Supporting Federal Tax Policy
While energy storage has seen tremendous growth in recent years, it continues to evolve into a mainstream option for grid owners and operators. Silverline represented ESA for nearly half a decade as it grew from a grassroots organization to a fully integrated federal, state, and local policy leader. As with any emerging market segment, policy campaigns focused on lobbying for federal tax incentives to level the playing field with other renewables like wind and solar.
Our Approach
Our team led the way in establishing member communications committee calls that informed corporate members on advocacy progress. Within the committee, we developed a speaker’s bureau that hosted corporate executive profiles that the Silverline team activated for placements across industry events. Our team also created communications opportunities and outcomes surrounding the National Call to Action Day for the Storage Investment Tax Credit. For this effort, we developed a multi-pronged approach including:
Targeted statehouse and local media outreach where key Congressional members were located and bound to pay attention
Drafting and placing multiple co-authored op-eds between ESA and a member company to elevate member stories in key outlets for the association, including The Times Union (Albany), Colorado Sun, and Morning Consult
Outcomes
Securing day-of coverage in energy and policy outlets including National Journal, Politico, E&E News, and the Washington Examiner
