Silverline Communications Expands Executive Leadership Team

New Senior Vice Presidents Will Oversee New Offices and a National Client Portfolio

Silverline Communications (Silverline), a leading business-to-business technology marketing communications agency, announced the appointment of two executives to its leadership team, Ellen Backus and Joey Marquart. In conjunction with the expanded leadership team, Silverline is opening new offices in Chicago and Salt Lake City to better serve the agency’s diverse clientele and growing national footprint. These offices will be aligned with the named executives.

“As we enter the next chapter of our company’s growth story, I am delighted to welcome Ellen and Joey to the Silverline team,” said Laura Taylor, founder and president of Silverline. “Their experiences and insights in emerging technology, energy and advanced manufacturing – among other rapidly evolving sectors – aligns with our growing client needs. Our team is well-positioned to provide the strategic guidance and counsel necessary for our clients to thrive.”

Ellen will lead the Chicago office with a focus on expanding Silverline’s presence in the Midwest and developing integrated corporate communications and advocacy programs. In her previous role as a senior vice president of Zeno Group, Ellen delivered strategic and impact results for leading global technology brands. She brings 25 years of experience in corporate positioning, branding, media relations and executive thought leadership to her position at Silverline.

“The explosive growth in Silverline’s practice areas and our unparalleled domain expertise makes this an opportune time for organizations seeking a nimble, knowledgeable communications firm to partner with us,” said Ellen. “I look forward to working with our top-notch agency staff and hiring talent in Chicago to expand our Midwest footprint, and overseeing the impactful, value-driven campaigns we are executing for our current clients.”

As the leader of the Salt Lake City office, Joey will focus on developing Silverline’s presence in the Western region. Joey joins the team from Edelman, where he was a senior vice president overseeing the agency’s global social innovation practice. He previously directed award-winning integrated communications programs for clients in the electric vehicle, clean energy, industrial-tech and energy efficiency sectors.

“I joined Silverline for two reasons: I was deeply impressed with their expertise and service quality, and I loved how their clients were having meaningful impact on the world around them,” said Joey. “I am thrilled to complement Laura and the Silverline leadership team by creating a strong West Coast presence. Strategic, audience-centric communications is imperative for companies in transitional, disruptive markets such as clean technology and advanced materials. Silverline knows how to tell the stories of clients, from multinationals to startups that deliver innovations with a meaningful impact on society.”

Silverline’s new executives will be at many upcoming events including National Smart Energy Week and Solar Power International, September 24-26, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
